Doctors in Recital
We have so much exciting news to share at Curative Connections! We are one of the 2027 Recipients for Doctors in Recital!!! The event will be held Saturday, January 30, 2027, at The Weidner. This inspiring evening of music will bring together local physicians and community members in support of four nonprofit programs, and our Caregiver Support Pilot is one of them!
Funds from the concert will support the development of Curative Connections’ Caregiver Support Pilot program. The vision for this program is to create educational opportunities and facilitate support groups for caregivers. The program also will provide respite services and access to essential resources. By addressing caregiver needs, the initiative helps sustain the well-being of both caregivers and those they support. This expansion reflects a growing commitment to holistic, person-centered care.
We hope to see you at The Weidner, January 30!
Mental Health Awareness Month
May is mental health awareness month and this year the theme is “More Good Days, Together”. The goal is to encourage everyone to reflect on what a good day looks like personally and for the community.
Having a good day starts with feeling good about who you are. Feeling better is a process so it is important to be kind to yourself. One way to feel better is by helping others. There is research that shows social behaviors like helping a friend, volunteering in the community, or giving to a cause/organization that you support can trigger the release of oxytocin in your brain. Oxytocin is a chemical messenger that helps you feel good. It also lowers stress and reduces pain. Helping others is a powerful reminder, that no one is alone, and that we have the power to make things better. At Curative Connections we believe in the power of place. We know what makes Curative Connections special is this space and the people in it. There is nothing that will turn your day around quicker than spending some time with members and being a part of the member experience.
Older Americans Month
May is also Older Americans Month, recognizing the achievements of older adults, aging trends, and the commitment to serving older adults. This year’s theme is “Champion Your Health,” which focuses on prevention, wellness, and personal responsibility as cornerstones of healthy aging. It encourages taking an active role in managing your own health, advocating for yourself, accessing preventive care, and making informed decisions that support independence.
Independence is at the heart of our mission at Curative Connections. All our programs in one way or another support our members and their individual goals for independence. Our Early Memory Loss Classes in particular support healthy aging. With a mix of cognitive exercise, physical activity, and nutritional education this program challenges adults in a social and supportive environment. The cognitive exercise portion provides a range of benefits, including improved cognitive function like memory and language, enhanced mood, increased social interaction, a greater sense of well-being, and potentially delay the progression of cognitive decline.
NEW Dancing with Our Stars
We are so excited to see our dancer Sam McIntyre up on the stage for this year’s NEW Dancing with Our Stars! We have a few month until the big night, but you can help Sam reach his fundraising goal starting now!
