Cognitive Rehab and Wellness

Cognitive Rehab and Wellness

Cognitive Rehab and Wellness programs support individuals with neurological impairments from a traumatic or non-traumatic brain injury, as well as those who may have a diagnosis of autism, down syndrome, or cerebral palsy. Length of members stay depends on the goals that are set as well as skills and compensatory strategies attained. This program area is split into Classroom Teaching and the Activity-Based program. Cognitive Rehab and Wellness differs from other program areas as programming is not all day every day, a member may only attend one hour of programming to work on a specific skill or competency. Programming and respite can be supplemented with other Curative programs, depending on need and compatibility.

Program placement and scheduling is determined through a detailed assessment, including questions about physical, cognitive, and mental needs. If the participant is a student over 18, staff may observe them at school. After the assessment, our team will be able to suggest a schedule with the specific programming sessions and days that are best suited to help a member achieve their personal goals. This may be one hour of programming a week, or a more robust schedule depending on the individual. The length of time a member is in the program is dependent on their goals and neurological impairment.
